Elder statesman,Alhaji Tanko Yakassai has advocated for adoption of the French Presidential system after the 2023 elections to arrest the drift of the country.

Speaking as Chairman of the The Niche Annual Lecture,he said that the present government has been insensitive and not providing solutions to the myriad of the nations problems.
According to him, those who adopted the presidential system in 1979 are not thoughtful enough of the consequences of dropping the Parliamentary system which he said is better for our contemporary situation as a developing country.
Alhaji Yakassai said further that the hopes of a better life has been dashed by corruption, poverty,hopelessness and economic deprivation coupled with insecurity all over the country..
He asked the gathering to discuss on the way forward for the country in view of the failure of successive governments to bequeathe a better country in all facets of governance.
