Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has continued to deepen the crisis between him and the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP leaders as he is set to roll out the red carpets for invited chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC for a function next week.
Indeed, the development is bound to raise questions on the imminent resolution of the faceoff between him and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of his party, the PDP.

Wike:PDP summons BOT meeting

It will be recalled that since Wike lost the PDP presidential ticket in early June and then was overlooked for the position of running mate relationship between him and the PDP leadership have been frosty .

To resolve the issue, the party set up a committee recently as proposed by the Board of Trustees, BoT to reconcile the two tendencies in the party.

On its own part, the APC has made moves to benefit from the crisis from the opposition party as it has made spirited moves towards wooing the Rivers State governor with former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose leading some APC governors to Wike a month or so ago.

In a move that is bound to further raise questions on the inclinations of the governor ahead of the general Election, Wike has now invited two prominent APC chiefs, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the immediate past governor of Sokoto State, Senator Magawata Wamako to Rivers State.

The invitation by Wike to the APC chiefs has come under the cover of the commissioning of projects executed by the Rivers State governor.

Though it is not the first time that the governor has invited a senior APC official to commission his projects, the invitation of two senior APC officials to commission projects on two successive days without a PDP figure in between them is bound to raise questions.

Announcing the invitation during a round of project inspection on Wednesday, Wike said:

“From Monday, the 8th August the Orochiri -Worukwo flyover (Waterline Junction) will be commissioned by the governor of Lagos State, while the Ogbum-Nu-Abali/Eastern Bye-Pass Road will be commissioned on the 9th August by the former Governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko.”
