South West State Governors have been urged to take pre-emptive measures to nip in the bud suspected plans by terrorists to attack Lagos and Ibadan, the twin Yoruba cities.

The Pan Yoruba group, Apapo Oodua Koya, (AOKOYA) in a statement on Monday said it has great suspicion based on credible intelligence and analysis of trends to suspect plots by terrorists to attack Lagos or Ibadan or the two cities in a most devastating manner. The group said its operatives work day and night to sniff for information in strategic areas across the South West using a combination of Yoruba workers, artisans and professionals including retired security operatives adding that its suspicion is informed by what the current terrorists modus across Nigeria.

The group in a statement by Col Abimbola Sowunmi said while the terrorists are battling to establish fortresses in Kwara, Ondo, Kogi and Ekiti States, their main target seems seeking the ability to create a lunchpad for a vicious attack on Nigeria’s most important commercial hubs.

As a result, AOKOYA urged the South West Governors to urgently create South West Intelligence Bureau, (SWIB) saddled with the responsibility of intelligence gathering and data analysis through the civil population and keen observation of terrorist trends .
The group said superior intelligence is the most effective way to destroy and neutralize terrorists since it puts the government at an advantage to receive information ahead and take decisive actions before terrorists carry out their evil plots.

‘We call on the State Governors in the South West to take immediate steps to stop suspected plots to attack Lagos or Ibadan or both. We call on the security operatives to be encouraged to do better to nip in the bud what may appear to be the terrorists most determined mission”, Apapo O’odua Koya, (AOKOYA) said in a statement signed by its official.
In addition, the group said security operatives in the South West should be encouraged and effectively deployed to stem any possible attacks on Lagos and Ibadan urging the South West Governors not to wait for the reluctant and inept Federal Government.

AOKOYA said having succeeded in attacking the Catholic Church in Owo, the historic Yoruba town, the terrorists have been further emboldened to carry out more devastating attacks.

‘Months after the attacks on Catholic Church in Owo, no one has been prosecuted. The identities of the attackers remain unknown. This clearly is a confidence-building mechanism for the terrorists.

They are more confident than before to carry out further attacks on Yoruba mainland. Its obvious they will like to score more devastating attacks on the most important economic cities in the South West,’ AOKOYA said. The group said Boko Haram, Ansaru and Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP and armed Fulani terrorists already have sleeping cells across the South West adding that their determination to take over Nigeria by force has been enhanced by the cold complicity of the Nigerian central government.

The group urges South West Churches and Mosques and other worship centres including visitors to Osun Osogbo grove, shopping malls, rowdy markets, to take personal responsibilities for protection since the governments at various levels appear to have failed the people. It said ahead of the 2023 elections, it is rational to expect more terrorist attacks given their well stated objective to ensure Nigeria is governed by religious extremists and their evil determination to turn Nigeria into Afghanistan

The group cautioned parents whose wards are currently on holidays to take extra precautions when taking their children to parks or leisure spots across the South West.
