Akinale community celebrates “Gbagede Oba” to mark Ileya Festival



The Akinale Community Development Association (CDA) has formalised ceremonising the yearly. Muslim festival “Ileya” at the Palace of their traditional ruler.
Tagged “Gbagede Oba”, the social interaction which is all inclusive has drawn sons and daughters of the town from home and in diaspora to come home to evaluate necessary needed development programme in the town.
Addressing the people at the gathering in Towulade’s Palace, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, commended the CDA leaders for their creativity and initiative to organise the event which has become a template for social development of Akinale.
Oba Ogunleye regretted that the current freeze in the economy of Nigeria has smeared the rural populace with poverty, calling for self-driven survival strategies. He therefore admonished all sons and daughters of Akinale to tighten their belts and evolve positive ideas that will utilise their natural resources for economic gains.
Earlier, the Chairman of the CDA Alhaji Dada Ogunniyi said the “Gbagede Oba” was conceived as a wake-up call to all Akinale indigenes home and abroad to felicitate with each other, using Ileya as a platform, where they can evaluate the state of their home and plan for sustainable development.
