The Federal government has declared Monday June 12 as public holiday
This is in commemoration of Democracy Day
Democracy Day: 12 months after , FG yet to fulfill promise to Abiola family-Children
The day it will be recalled was adopted by the Federal government to mark the anniversary of the June 12 1993 presidential election won by the late Basorun Moshood Kashimawo Abiola but was annuled by the military regime if for er military President,General Ibrahim Babangida.

Until 2018, Nigerians commemorated the restoration of democracy on May 29 and the day was celebrated as Democracy Day.
