Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, on Monday, inched further into becoming the next President of Nigeria, with his emergence as the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), one of Nigeria’s eyeing the 2023 elections.

Obi, who joined the party, after rejecting the process of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), last week, secured the slot at the party’s National Convention, which which took place at the Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.

Utomi, was quoted as saying: “Obi must be given the opportunity to govern this country,” before stepping down for the foremost business mogul, banker and politician, who was the Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP, in the February 23, 2019 election.

Many Nigerians have enthused over the prospect of the former governor being on the ballot for the historic election next year, with the social media portal of his new party virtually crashing at the weekend, hours after he announced his switch to the LP, as people moved to register with it, even without securing the presidential ticket yet.
