In a statement signed by it’s chairman, Mr. Plus Mordi, and made available to newdawnnngr he said.
“The attention of the League of Professionals for Strategic Advocacy has been drawn to the use of its name and brand to wade into the ongoing House of Representatives contest in Isoko Federal Consitituency of Delta State.
This came through the purported endorsement of one of the aspirants, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, and erection of billboards within the constituency to advance the candidature of the same aspirant under the false claim that they were “Powered by the League of Professionals for Strategic Advocacy”.
We hereby disclaim the purported endorsement and the billboards in the name of the League by unknown persons.
The League of Professionals for Strategic Advocacy is a coalition of men and women committed to building a greater Delta State and is not involved in local politics. It is made up of professionals with visible means of livelihood committed to seeking what can be done to make Delta State greater and NOT what can be taken away from the state.
While the group is based in Asaba, capital of the state, it is focused on national issues as they affect Delta State. Although members are free to hold and espouse their individual allegiance as well as promote their political preferences, the League as a body is never involved in partisan local politics characterised by endorsement of aspirants within a party.
We urge members of the public to disregard the purported endorsement as the League had no knowledge of it and did not authorize it.
