Son of Nigerias first prime minister,the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr Abdul Jhakil Tafawa Balewa has likened the present state of the country to an animal farm.

According to him,leaders at the corridors of power pack ideas on how to move the country forward and improve it’s lot.
Speaking yesterday at the publication presentation of a book- Nigeria,Journey to Democracy written by Chief Oladipo Jimilehins,a lawyer who participated in two constitutional conferences, he attributed the poor state of the country to bad leadership.

He said this is contrary to what obtains in the first republican when the nations founding fathers had a vision of where they are taken the country.

Said he,”At independence we had leaders who as thinkers knew where they want to take Nigeria and build followers who will take over from them.

But today what we have are cabals and mafiosos who hijacked government for selfish ends.”

Speaking further, he said that the country has sunk to the level “of producing godfather’s who had idiotic godson’s who represents us in the legislature”.

Dr Tafawa Balewa wondered how Nigeria got to the level it has sunk adding that by the time President Olusegun Obasanjo came to power,the country had developed a military mindset adding,”but for his return,the country would have been permanently conditioned to authoritarian military psyche.”

In her speech,wife of Chief Obasanjo,Chief Mrs Bola Obasanjo who represented her husband at the occasion express the hope that Nigeria will rise again.

He commended the author of the book for recording the nations journey to democracy adding that Nigerians will benefit from his rich experience.

In his remark,Chief Jimilehin said he was motivated to write the book in order to allow youths to know the country’s history and struggles to attain nationhood adding,”I am fulfilled”.
