How Aremo Osoba broker concensus between Omisore and Shittu
Former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba,in the early hours of Sunday finally midwife a consensus arrangement that saw former Communications Minister and President Buharis ally, Adebayo Shittu to withdraw for Senator Iyiola Omisore,for National Secretary post at the National convention of the All Progressive Congress.
Shittu had insisted on going ahead with the election which also had as contenders Engr Ife Oyedele and an impeached Deputy Governor of Osun, Iyiola Omisore.
But Osoba played a fast one when he brought Shittu to the stage to say that Leaders of the Yoruba would like to apologize to him over the consensus arrangement to favour Omisore.
Chief Osoba said “I am here to apologize profusely and profoundly on behalf of the Yoruba race to Barrister Shittu, a founding father of APC.”
He said as a lawyer, his contribution to APC Constitution was “immense”.
“He is a Number one diehard supporter of PMB in Yorubaland.”
While responding, Shittu said “Under the loose term of consensus, the position I wanted and aspired to was given to some other person on a platter of gold.
“You cannot concede on behalf of somebody. I was not part of the consensus.
“But because of the respect I’ve always had for President Muhammadu Buhari, I want to openly declare that I have completely accepted what has been done in the name of consensus.
“Every support I can give to APC, I will continue to give to APC.” Shittu added
