Newly sworn in Anambra state governor,Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has called on the militant Independent People’s of Biafra,IPOB to shelve it’s stay at he order for a new lease of life in the state.
This is contained in his first official speech to the people after officially taken his oath of office as the executive governor of Anambra State.
He also said that henceforth there will be no ceremonies that will necessitate spending state funds adding that the state funds will not be used to host state banquets and merriments adding that he will henceforth use made in Anambra products.
In a short ceremony, the new governor inspected a guard of honour after his swearing-in and delivered his inaugural speech.
Soludo was sworn in by the State Chief judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu at exactly 9:45 am, at the Anambra State Government House.
The swearing-in was witnessed by the out-going governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu, all the 30 members of the Anambra State House of Assembly and other dignitaries
Speaking further he said that under his watch assured Anambra people that under his watch, the state’s money would be spent such that every child in the state has access to the best education, every unemployed person gainfully employed, contractors paid, pensioners paid, businesses thriving and so on.
He said the refreshments provided at the event was not from the state treasury.
The new governor also restated his commitment to patronize only made-in-Anambra products.
He pointed at his Innoson vehicle which will serve as his official vehicle, his Akwete dress and made-in-Onitsha shoe. He said even the refreshments – Abatcha, rice, water were locally sourced in the state.
Soludo announced the scrapping of levies at motor parks and markets until the state comes up with a technological way of collecting such. He said anyone who ask for those levies tomorrow, should be called a thief as he would sign an executive order to that effect.
In the speech, Soludo questioned the rationale of the IPOB sit-at-home which has been injurious to the economy of the South East, disruptive to the education of school children in the South East and fatal to sick people who would be deprived of medical help on the day of such sit-at-home.
He promised to champion a tripartite meeting between the Federal Government, IPOB and southeast leaders to resolve the problem, especially the trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
After the ceremony, Soludo said he would be devoting eight hours today for work.
