TUC threatens to join strike as ASUU, FG meeting deadlocked again

The nation may face a prolonged period of industrial action as the Trade Union Congress,TUC prepares to join university teachers in their one month warning strike.

This was just as the Academic Staff Union of Universities late Tuesday night said its negotiations with the Federal Government ended without any agreements.

Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, had earlier led the Federal Government delegation to the meeting in Abuja.

After about six hours of sitting, it was learnt that both parties failed to reach any agreement.

The TUC said it is prepared to join the ASUU members to press home their demands if the government does not answer their requests in two weeks.

Already, the union has said it would require N1trillion in the next five years to ensure sanity returns to the nation’s universities.
