The Nigerian authorities have confirmed that a large number of Nigerians are finding it hard to cross over to neighbouring Poland in the face of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
Videos have surfaced how many Nigerians, including students, were stranded at the border of Poland while policemen prevented them from entering the country.
A video shared online by one of the students identified as Nze showed Polish security agents pointing guns at the Nigerians who were crying for help to be let in.
Worsening the situation for the stranded Nigerians is the acute cold weather.
Many of them said they had spent two nights at the border without being let in.
However, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerian Disapora Commission confirmed on Sunday the dangerous situation many Nigerians found themselves in getting into Poland.
Dabiri-Erewa said arrangements are however been made for Nigerians to be received at the border of Romania while all arrangements are being made for those entering Poland to be taken care of.
Saying it is a chaotic situation, She said, “Can’t confirm the timing of video. But all will get in. It’s a chaotic situation but the Nigerian Ambassador and her team in Romania are working round the clock.”
Already, many phone numbers of diaspora commission representatives have been shared for those entering other countries to be settled in pending further arrangements.
