….Until there is good governance Africa can’t develop
…..Nigeria going forward in reverse gear
..public institutions have deteriorated
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto,Bishop Hassan Kukah has said that coups are returning to African countries because of lack of good governance.
He declared Wednesday at the 8th Annual Public lecture titled Nigeria,a country of Many Nations:A quest for National Integration, to mark the 80th birthday of Pastor Enoch Adeboye ,General Overseer of the Redeemed Christain Church of God.he wondered why in spite of trillions of dollars spent the country after 60 years could not provide electricity, roads, water and food.
Speaking further, he said that public institutions are in various stages of decomposition adding that the Nigerian society is unhappy.
Kukah wondered why jobs are now being awarded only to children of public figured and the powerful hence the youths are not happy.
According to him,he is not surprised that those with whom he fought for Democracy are now accusing him of being too critical simply because he is very critical of the government adding that fir as long as their is bad governance,he cannot afford to be neutral.
“These are times of trial and tribulations of our people and I will continue to be critical even in cassock”he declared.
Father Kukah said that the present government inability to manage diversity has been it’s greatest undoing and affecting adding”this house has been overtaking and our children are dying of hunger. Our ordinary farmers cannot farm while children cannot go to school.”
“Is it too much for the poor to ask that their children can go to school and they have come to believe that anywhere is better than where we are now The unknown known is better the known”
