Special adviser to the President on Media,Mr Femi Adesinas has said that those responsible for importing adultrated fuel into the country will face appropriate punishment.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday monitored by Newdawnngr.com, he said that like other organisations the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,NNPC have a structure in place to deal with such infractions.
He said that there has been a meeting of stakeholders with the President on the fuel crisis and he has directed that the situation must be rectified such that,”sufferings of Nigerians could be reduced and I can assure you those found culpable with the situation will face appropriate discipline.i can assure you that definitely there will be sanctions but the President is concerned that suffering of Nigerians must first of all be reduced.
In answer to a question,he said that this is the first time in the seven years history of the government that fuel scarcity has reared its head unlike what happens in previous government.
Said he,”we have to realise that we have had cases of fuel scarcity in previous regimes especially during the regime of late General Sanni Abacha and President Goodluck Jonathan and I can assure you that as the minister in charge of Petroleum he will take appropriate steps to nib the situation in the bud.
Mr Adesina also referred to the apology rendered by Mallam Kyari the Group Managing Director of the NNPC as representing the decision of the federal government adding,”he can’t do that except with the consent of the President as the Petroleum Minister.”
“I can assure you the President takes responsibility for everything that has happened in the petroleum sector and in the country at large.

Speaking on the security situation he said that administration is trying it’s best as security is the number one challenge and priority of the Buhari led government.
On the increasing number of out of school children, he said the 15 million figure is a cumulation from previous government over the years adding that the rise could be attributed to the distruption of federal governments programme as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which is a global phenomenon.
In answer to a question hinted,he that the governors elected on the platform of the party will hold a crucial meeting with President Buhari today to take decisions on the confusion generated by the twice postponed national convention of the party.
He said a communique will be issued at the end of the meeting with the President who is leader of the party.
