Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner.
The long arm of the law seems to have caught up with a councillor representing Ward G of the Agbado Oke Odo local development council of Lagos state,Ogunyemi Olatunji Emmanuel who is alleged to have violated the provision of the Corrupt practices and other Related offences Act No 5 of 2000.
Olatunji
His invitation by the Lagos state office of the ICPC was prompted by a petition written by a Lagos based group Lygel Youth and Leadership Initiative, which accused him of drawing salary concurrently both as full time councillor and a public servant with Lagos State Universal Basic Education(SUBEB).
The petitioner also alleged that the Councillor who has been representing Ward G,Agbado Oke Odo Council Area, since July 24,2017 and has been drawing money from public accounts since then.
The third ground of the petition by the group is that the accused Councillor has been a permanent staff with Lagos state Universal Basic Education drawing salaries and allowances from the public fund without working with SUBEB as a sitting councillor without resignation or leave of service.
The petitioner observed that corrupt practices like this has limited the opportunity and advantages of youths,”who find it difficult to survive in this economic hardship”.

It stated that the action of the Councillor is a violation of section 22 of the ICPC Act adding that the commission “is statutorily empowered by Section 10 to receive, investigate complaint and prosecute offenders”.
