Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), has warned against an increase in fuel price.

He said this following the recommendation issued by the National Economic Council for fuel price to be pegged at N302 per litre.

Abdulsalami was speaking at the 19th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja.

He said that the consequences of the increment will spell doom for the country.

There are plans by the Federal Government to increase the price of fuel which the Finance Minister said would provide funds for the infrastructural development of the country.

She also said that plans are on for the government to pay N5, 000 transport subsidy to poor Nigerians.
