Chidiebere Nwobodo opened scoring on 13 minutes with a well taken shot off an assist by Ugochukwu Ugwuoke.
Mustapha Salis restored parity 10 minutes before half time from a coordinated effort which saw Frank Kappe delivering to his foot prior to the fine finish.
Mustapha Salis and Mansoor Aliyu also made frantic efforts in search of goals. Salis had curved wide a close range attempt that narrowly missed the target, while Mansoor’s header from Frank Kappe’s long throw was saved by Mutawakilu.
Second Half
The second stanza commenced on a faster pace as the teams returned very hungry for goals, but the first few chances were blown hurriedly by Mansoor Aliyu of Katsina, while the other came off the foot of Ossy Martin’s.
Rangers International went ahead for the second time nine minutes after resumption and it was Ossy Martins who fired a straight shot from distance after beating an offside trap by the home team.
That goal left the hosts with the only choice of launching offensives in a bid to redeem the game.
Jubrin Nasiru was through on a goal bound move before his shot got intercepted by Ernest Governor after Mutawakilu was beaten.
The other chance for Katsina United came from Mustapha Salis who dribbled past his markers, but his effort was thwarted by Rangers Goalkeeper.
As the game headed towards the closing stage. Rangers Goalkeeper Saidu Mutawakilu got the marching order from the center referee Adebimpe Quadri after a second yellow card for time wasting.
Mutawakilu was first cautioned on 70 minutes and was sent off 16 minutes later for similar offence. Goalkeeper Bamidele Adeniyi took the place of Ugochukwu Ugwuoke to continue in the post.
