Demolition of houses in border communities to commence
All is now set for the contractors handling the N100 billion Lagos Red Line railway to commence demolition of houses and structures in border communities like Ijoko,Itoki and other areas where the train project will terminate from Marina.
It will be recalled that there was an intiall delay as the communities kick against demolition of their houses citing previous experience with Ogun state government .
The them state government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun effected demolition of many houses along Ijoko-Agbado,Oke aro,Alagbole and others but most of them are yet to be compensated.
Besides,the project has been abandoned since the past six years posing threat to the inhabitants.
However, stakeholder meeting between officials of the Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority,LAMATA, held Friday .
The meeting Newdawnngr sources revealed was led by Ogun State Government officials.
At the end of the meeting, the community agreed with demolition exercise saying it is for development.
The government involved on it’s part agreed to commensurate compensation to owners of houses,structures and property to be affected by the project.
The Red Line project expected to be completed towards the third quarter of 2022 is expected to bring relief to the commuters and people who live in border areas but worked in neighbouring Lagos state.
