Residents of Obawole area of Iju-Ogba in Ifako Ijaye area of Lagos state have called on Governor Babajide Sanwwo-Olu to rescue the residents by fixing the failing road near the popular Obawole Bridge.

They renewed their calls again on Friday after a mini-truck fell inside the gully already created by the erosion which has eaten away a substantial part of the road.
The road linking Ogba through Haruna to Iju by the bridge has been completely damaged by erosion making vehicles to fall inside incessantly.
Mrs. Alice Ajao, a resident of the area told reporters on Friday that she witnessed how the truck rolled back from the hilly side of the road and fell inside the gully.
“The scene was scary. The truck was coming back and before we knew it, it had landed inside the gully area. We need government to come and fix this road urgently.”she stated.
An official of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency who was seen at the scene of the fallen truck told NPO Reports later on telephone that he was one of those drafted to control traffic when the incident happened on Friday.
A drive who claimed to reside at Ndike area of Iju said he was surprised the state government has left the area unattended for months that the erosion had eaten away a huge part of the road.
The driver, Emeka Nwaobosi said “there is danger around here. It’s either they come to fix this or disaster is looming.”
