Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Nuhu Abok, was on Thursday impeached by eight members of the legislative house.
This is to confirm earlier reports of tension in the vicinity of the Assembly as security operatives took over the entire area.

Yakubu Sanda, representing Pengana Constituency, was named as the new Speaker.
He was removed in the early hours of Thursday by the lawmakers from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who were escorted into the chambers amidst tight security.
The security operatives however prevented members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the House from entering the House while the process lasted.
