The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, has assured the Yoruba community residing in the state that the administration of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will continue to carry them along in the scheme of things as it concerns governance in the state.
Chief Ukah made this known on Tuesday when he received the Yoruba community in his country home in Okpanam during their visit to congratulate him on his appointment as Secretary to the State Government.
The SSG told them that as long as they had lived in the state for many years and were law abiding, they had the same rights and privileges as citizens of the state.
‘There is an adage which says wherever you are residing is your home, be it Asaba, Ughelli or Okpanam” he stated.
Chief Ukah charged the group to continue to ensure that they live peacefully with their neighbors if they want to do well in the state.
He further charged them to key into the various empowerment programmes of the state government which he said is an avenue that helps uplift ones standard of living.
Chief Ukah thanked the Yoruba community for their show of love towards him and the state government and assured them that their demands will be looked into.
The Secretary of the Yoruba community in the state, Mr. Olatobosun, said the visit to the SSG was to congratulate him on his appointment, even as he stated that Chief Ukah had always been friends with them even before his appointment.
He pledged the support of the Yoruba community to the state government and assured that they will continue to live peacefully with their neighbors.
The Asiwaju of Yoruba community in the state, Alhaji Lawal Famous, commended the state governor for supporting the Yoruba community in the state through various empowerment schemes which he said had gone a long way in touching the lives of his people.
