The International Press Institute IPI Nigeria Electoral Committee has issued guidelines for the conduct of election into various offices of its Executive Committee.
A press statement signed by the outgoing secretary Raheem Adedoyin stipulates:
“Aspirants should apply between Today, August 1 and Tuesday, August 3, 2021 for positions they desire; they should indicate their qualifications and attach their profile and a typed one-page writeup on their vision for IPI Nigeria.
* Only financial members who have paid the mandatory N30K membership registration fee and 2021 Membership dues can contest.
* Only members certified as constitutionally qualified to be IPI members can vote and be voted for. New members who do not already have their names in the IPI register should fill the membership form ( attached) and submit same to the Secretariat between now and Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
* Corporate members are entitled to register not more than 3 members of their organizations. But such nominated members would be screened to ascertain that they are qualified to be IPI members in Nigeria. The nominees’ names should be forwarded to the Secretarial not later than Tuesday, August 3
* A list of cleared candidates and the voter register which will be based on all qualified members registered, will be published a week to the election.
* Voting will take place only for positions where there are more than one candidate cleared.
* Candidates cannot be voted for in
absentia.
* Voting will be done virtually and the voting process witnessed live by participating members
* Results will be announced instantly and winners sworn in immediately.
* Members of Board of Trustees cannot contest for any positions in the executive committee. “
