Leader of the Yoruba Nation agitation, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) standing trial for an undisclosed offence in Benin Republic, has been ordered to be remanded in a new detention facility.

According to the court, this is where the separatist leader will be kept until further investigations are concluded.

He had earlier been declared wanted by the Nigerian government over allegations of stockpiling arms and causing instability.

The Nigerian government is fighting to have him extradited to the country.

In court to witness the proceeding were represntatives of the traditional institutions in Yorubaland.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Amos Adetunji had sent delegation to give Igboho moral supports.

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams also on Monday said he has rallied Yoruba monarchs in the Republic of Benin to ensure support for the agitation leader.
