…Says they worked against interest of the people
Former Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, on Friday described as shameless members of the National Assembly who voted against electronic transmission of election results.

Agbaje, in his first reaction to Thursday’s rejection by the Senate, said Thursday’s decision confirmed that the senators worked against the interests of the people.
He said, “It was most disheartening watching so-called democrats openly rejecting electronic transmission of election results in a country where banking, JAMB, lectures, teaching, FEC (Federal Executive Council) and other meetings have gone electronic.”
Agbaje said the development also confirmed that the lawmakers were not interested in deepening democratic practice adding that they are not interested in the will and wishes of the people.
He said, “ It only confirms that there is no resolve by these persons to deepen our democratic process. They obviously do not want the will of the people to prevail. A shameful lot!”
The senators had on Thursday cited poor internet coverage across the country as reason the Independent National Electoral Commission could not be allowed to proceed with electronic transmission of election results.
A former INEC chief, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, on Friday said it was a lie to say that the country was not sufficiently covered for the transmission.
However, when officials of the Nigerian Communications Commission appeared before the House of Representatives on Friday, its Executive Director, Technical Services, Engr. Ubale Ahmed Maska, said only 50% of the entire country is currently covered by 3G network.
