Operatives of Oyo State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, have arrested 400 suspected criminals in the ongoing “Operation Clean up” in the state.

This was disclosed by the state commander of the security corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye Friday.

He said “We started from the state capital and combed all the black spots and made over 400 arrests before we headed to the local government areas and concentrated on the Northern Senatorial District where we embarked on 24 hours patrol

“We engaged the services of local hunters and vigilante to join our men and patrol the forest.

“Substantially, we were also able to drive out the bad guys in recent times. You will find out that most of the kidnap cases you get nowadays are at the border.

“We have put out searchlight and we have mapped out security strategies to checkmate the activities of those bad people.

“Ose local government area has a boundary with Edo and Kogi States and it offers easy to access way out. But we are checking them.

“We are getting ready for a massive onslaught against criminals, particularly in Ajowa-Ifira axis in the four local governments in Akoko such that once we finish our clearance operation, there will be no criminal activities like before. You know there is no society that is crime-free.”

He revealed that the directive of the Ondo State governor that all local government chairmen should set up a vigilante system has been yielding results.

According to him, some local governments have started working and compiling names, adding that the government wants them to bring up their vigilantes under Amotekun for supervision.

“The maintenance of the newly recruited officers is a thing that the State government had taken up. By the first week of July, they will be dispatched to their various duty posts in all the local government areas in the State.”

He added, “I thank the State Government very much for keeping to its words and ensuring that its own side of the bargain is kept as far as their (officers) salaries and allowances are concerned. Right now, we are not owing to any officer a day outstanding salary at Amotekun Corps.

The Commander warned criminals to relocate from the state in their own interest failure of which they would be smoked out of their hiding and made to face the full weight of the law.
