……urge community publishers to continue their support
Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Community Newspapers, Mr Jonathan Onwuka has stated that the administration of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has been fair to all ethnic groups in Delta in terms of infrastructure and human capital development.
Onwuka while meeting with executives and members of the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN) expressed satisfaction with the conduct of members who have been fair and unbiased in their reportage of the policies and programmes of the administration.
He stated that the administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to the very essence of providing infrastructure and good governance for the people of Delta.
“Without sounding immodest, Governor Okowa has impacted positively on the state infrastructure, we cannot overemphasize the kilometres of roads and drains constructed by this administration.
“Before now flooding was a challenge in Asaba but since the construction of storm drains, the issue of flooding is now a thing of the past,” he added.
Mr Onwuka further stated that six functional Technical Colleges which are all accredited by NABTEB, while additional nine have come on stream and are at various stages of completion with a promise by the Governor to build one in each of the local government areas.
“As you are all aware, Job creation is a cardinal objective of this administration and the state governor is more than ever before committed to creating wealth for our teaming youths through the various job creation programmes which has reduced our unemployment and poverty rates.
“The Asaba Airport, Stadium, State Secretariat project are key achievements of the Okowa led administration which has direct impact on the socioeconomic development of the state as well as provide conducive environment for the state public service.
Mr Onwuka thanked the members of ACNPN for their support towards promoting the policies and programmes of the Okowa led administration.
“The Governor needs the support of the publishers, and most of you who are publishers have been factual in your report because you guys are at the grassroots and have first hand information of what we have done as an administration.
“We all know that the beauty of Journalism is factual and accurate presentation of facts and community publishers have been fair to this administration in their various publications which is responsible for the harmonious working relationship we enjoy.
He further promised to ensure that in the remaining part of the administration, his office will continue to work with the association and give them the necessary support they need.

Comrade Jude Obiemeyego, Chairman, Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN in his response, thanked Mr Onwuka for his commitment and support towards the association and further thanked Mr Aniagwu Charles for ensuring that there was relative stability in the association.
The association promised to continue their support for the government of Delta State in ensuring that Governor Okowa succeeds in his quest to transform Delta and make it a model for infrastructure and human capital development for other states in the country
