You’ll regret standing against Yoruba people, Akintoye tells Tinubu, SW governors

Leader of Yoruba separatist movement, Professor Banji Akintoye, has warned Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and South west governors not to stand against the interest of the Yoruba people.
He said in a press statement Monday in reaction to their declaration Sunday that they are against realisation of Oduduwa Republic that” by clinging to Nigeria, they have taken a decision they are certain to regret”.
It will be recalled that the APC leaders led by first Interim Chairman of the,Chief Bisi Akande,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,Governors of Ogun,Dapo Abiodun,Lagos state,Babajide Sanwo olu and their Osun state counterpart Gboyega Oyetola had at meeting held at the Lagos house,Marina declared their support for the banning of open grazing in the southern part of the country to curb incessant clash between herders and farmers.
They however rejected secessionist moves by the Yoruba out of Nigeria reaffirming their belief in the unity and continuous existence of the country.
They called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the nation on the state insecurity and other issues.

Yoruba leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye, has reacted to last Sunday’s meeting of some APC leaders of Yoruba extraction, warning them not to stand against the interests of the Yoruba.

“It is a pity that in rejecting the Yoruba nation state and clinging to Nigeria, they have taken a decision which they are certain to regret. My prayer is that when they come to regret it, they will have the courage to change it and thereby re-establish themselves in the swelling current of Yoruba thought, Yoruba desire, and Yoruba expectations.”
