Senate suspends plenary for constitution review hearings

The Senate on Wednesday suspended plenary for one week to enable its members to participate in the zonal public hearings on the exercise across the country.

Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, who announced this on Wednesday at plenary, said the exercise will hold in 12 centres across the country between Wednesday, May 26 and 27, 2021.

Lawan urged Nigerians to participate fully in the exercise as the National Assembly has no pre-conceived agenda but would be opened to inputs from Nigerians.
The Senate Adhoc Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution chaired by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, had last week announced the schedule of the zonal public hearings ahead of the national hearing in Abuja.
