14 Highlights of the outcome of BATAM meeting in Lagos.

The National Executives of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Admirers’ Movement (BATAM), led by its President, Dr. Kenneth Ibikunle Solana held a strategic meeting with members of Lagos state branch executives and other members of the organisation at BATAM National/Lagos state Secretariat in Bariga, Lagos.

At the meeting which took place on Saturday, May 1, 2021, several issues bordering on the way forward for BATAM were discussed and firm decision taken. These are:

1). BATAM TO EMBARK ON MORE AGGRESSIVE NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP MOBILISATION DRIVE:

It was decided that BATAM should embark on a more aggressive membership mobilisation drive at the grassroots level and nationally, particularly in Lagos state.

2). BATAM TO CONTINUE TO REPLACE INACTIVE EXECUTIVE MEMBERS:

It was agreed that BATAM should continue to replace state and Local Government appointees who are not serious or are showing lack of commitment to BATAM, by not attending meetings regularly or at all.

3. APPOINTMENTS OF SOME LG COORDINATORS:

Some Local Government Coordinators were appointed out of members present. More members to be appointed at subsequent meetings from among those who will attend.

4). LG COORDINATORS COULD BECOME STATE EXECUTIVES:

Some members, including LG officials who are very committed and dedicated could be upgraded and appointed into the state EXCO whenever there are vacancies in replacements for non-performing or active state executives. Just as it was done recently in Ogun state, where the Acting Coordinator of Sagamu LG became the state coordinator.

5). BATAM MEETINGS ARE HELD ONCE MONTHLY
:
BATAM meetings are held once in a month in any of its branches, except when there is an emergency meeting.

In the case of Lagos state branch, it will now hold its monthly meeting every last Saturday of every month beginning from the end of this month, May. Time is 12 noon prompt at the State Secretariat, Bariga, Lagos. It was however, agreed that meetings could be rotated or shifted to other venues in other local government areas. This will also help in creating more awareness in that local government and neighborhood.

6). BATAM IDENTITY CARDS COMPULSORY FOR SERIOUS MEMBERS:

Every serious member of BATAM must pay for and collect their Identity cards, officially issued by the National Secretariat in Lagos. For now, it costs two thousand Naira (#2,000).
This is coordinated by State Coordinators, General Secretary, Financial Secretary and Treasurer in every branch.

7). BATAM NATIONAL CONFERENCE:

BATAM President announced that BATAM has introduced an annual National Conference. The maiden edition slated for Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state and the political headquarters of the South-West will be attended by all duly registered members of the association (That is those who pay pay for and are given BATAM identity cards), from across the country and beyond.

8). NATIONAL ORGANISING COMMITTEE:

A National Organising Committee will be set up. Members of the committee, who shall be announced later; shall determine the date, time and duration of the event.

9). ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU AND OTHERS DIGNITARIES SHALL BE INVITED TO GRACE AND ADDRESS BATAM MEMBERS AT THE CONFERENCE:

All BATAM Patrons, Patronnesses, Special Advisers and other distinguished personalities across Nigeria shall be invited.

10). BATAM’s Life Grand Patron and Life Grand Patronness, their Excellencies, Senators Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief Mrs Oluremi Tinubu; and Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo shall also be invited to grace the occasion and address BATAM members world-wide. 12). RESPONSE TO LAGOS COORDINATOR’S COMPLAINT:

In response to Lagos State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Araba Olufayo’s complain that some of the state’s executive members are not up and doing, the meeting agreed that those who are constituting a clog in the movement’s wheel of progress should be changed as the movement can no longer wait for anyone.

13). The President, Dr. Ibikunle Solana, reacts: “The movement has left the station and it cannot afford to be delayed or slowed down for anyone. We have to take our rightful place. We started in 2016 even before Tinubu decided that he will run and now all manners of Tinubu support groups are springing up and we, the pioneer, seem to be lagging behind. This is totally unacceptable. This is the time for us to show the world the stuff we are made off. BATAM’s train has moved. Those who are not serious or ready will be dropped or left behind. We won’t allow anybody and anything to slow us down or stop us at this level”.

14.). BRIEF ADDRESS AND PRAYER BY DISTINGUISHED SPECIAL ADVISER:

Thee icing on the cake at the meeting was the appearance of Hon. Otunba Dr.Shakirudeen Dengel Anifowoshe, the former Chairman of APC Chairmen in Lagos state; and Special Adviser to BATAM. He is also the popular philanthropist and grassroots politician who donated the National Secretariat of BATAM in Lagos.

He commended the group and urged its members to remain focused and committed as God will eventually crown their efforts. He assured and prayed for the members that they shall reap the benefits of their hard labour.
