Several persons were on Monday injured in a clash involving some NURTW men and Okada Riders in Iyano-Iba area of Lagos state.
Eyewitnesses who disclosed the report to nporeport said the clash was between some Yoruba youths and Hausa men around the area of Lagos State University, LASU axis.
A Senior Special Assistant to Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu , Mr. Jubril Gawat , while reacting to a fake report on the incident online, said the clash was between members of the NURTW and motorcycle riders.
“UPDATE on Ojo, Iyana Iba etc unrest .. Officers of the Lagos Police Command, LNSC have brought situation under control. It’s NOT a Tribal issue pls… Area Calm now and everyone going about their lawful duties,” Gawat tweeted.
“The Clash was between members of the Transport Union and the Okada riders … @PoliceNG has brought situation under control. It’s NOT a Tribal issue pls .. All Clear now.”
Also reacting, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Gboyega Akosile also attested to the statements of Senior Special Assistant to Mr. Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Jubril Gawat.
In his words: “Correction: please there’s no ethnic clash in Lagos. No State has been more tolerant in Nigeria, where you have every tribe from the country than Lagos.
“The early morning clash was between members of the NURTW and the Okada riders. @PoliceNG has brought situation under control.”
