Eight miners killed as gunmen attack Ssite in plateau

Some suspected gunmen have again killed eight persons during an attack on a mining site at Shawalan Kuru in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state.

Our source who shared report with NPOreports disclosed that one of the deceased was beheaded.

The attack, which left many injured, was carried out on Friday evening.

Since the attack on Friday, the community has been in desolation over the death of their loved ones.

The corpses have been handed over to the relatives of the deceased.

They were retrieved during a visit to the site by the leader of Jos South Council Hon Emmanuel Jang.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Plateau, A.S Tafida, who represented the Commissioner of Police, condoled with the entire Jos South people, especially the Kuru community.

He prayed for calm and cooperation amongst them.

He advised them not to take laws into their hands, promised that the security operatives will work with their leaders in carrying out discreet investigations to arrest the perpetrators.
Pressures
Governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, confirmed the incident on Saturday in a statement issued by Plateau Director of Press and Public Affairs, Makut Macham.

The statement obtained by NPOreports Saturday, stated that the governor described the killing as an attempt by criminals to destabilise the state and create fear among the people.

Continuing, he said that his administration will not condone attacks on innocent citizens.

Lalong, however, advised residents to assist security operatives to provide relevant information that would fast track their investigation.
