Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom ,Saturday afternoon escaped an attack on his convoy in the outskirts of Markurdi-Gboko road,the Benue state capital.

Reacting ,he said he was targeted for assassination by his attackers.
The governor narrated that the attack was launched while on his way to a farm.
He said information at his disposal shows that he has been marked to be captured after his security aides are killed while he is supposed to be subjected to gradual death.
These were the words of the Governor after gunmen opened fire on his convoy along the Markurdi -Gboko Road on Saturday.
“As I always say, my life is in the hands of God not in the hands of anybody whatsoever.
” I will fight for truth, equity and justice, he said.
The governor who said the attack was not the first to be launched by the gunmen, disclosed that he had been receiving threatening messages prior to the incident.
“That they would go after me whether in my house, farm or anywhere, and this is not the first time,” he said.P
The governor praised his security details that were just about six in number for responding quickly to the attack and repelled them promptly before providing cover for him to return to safety.
The governor also said that troops of operation whirl stroke, the police, and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have been mobilised to the forest between Tyo Mu and Abinse where the armed herdsmen are thought to be camped.
He also called for the arrest and prosecution of the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore.
