No fewer than three persons have been abducted by gunmen at the National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi in Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The heavily armed men stormed the institute at about 3 pm on Wednesday, March 10 shooting sporadically into the air before gaining access into the school’s main campus along Amedokhian Road, Uromi.
Among those kidnapped was Miss Uzo of the Environmental Studies department.
Three other persons were whisked away to an unknown destination.
Some students said they were currently writing their second semester examinations.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Bello Kontongs, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Benin City, said,“It is true, there was kidnapping, and the police are on the trail of the kidnappers.
“Three persons were kidnapped, one is a staff while the other two are students,” he added.
Former Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Itulah said, “The institution is known for excellence and wondered what made the kidnappers storm the school. I wish to call on the police and other security agents to improve on the security architecture of Esan land “.
