Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has called on government and stakeholders to review support and progress made on issues concerning women and girls.
In her message on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, signed personally by her,she said that this years theme titled Women In Leadership:Achieving and Equal Future in a COVID-19 World, is a strong call to appreciate the efforts of women and girls in the fight against the pandemic.
According to her, COVID-19,has had a huge impact on women,disrupted education and careers,lost jobs,descent into poverty and proliferation of domestic violence.
Said he,”many have also died or suffered due to lack of access to basic information on the pandemic adding,”it is therefore important not just to continue spreading the message but to remember and support those who have been affected negatively by the pandemic in one way or the other.
She also identified the attack by insurgents and bandits as another area where people have suffered adding, “as a mother, I share the sorrow and agony of the victims and their families”.
Mrs Buhari said she is not unaware of the impact that these abductions could have in reverting manu successes that has hitherto been achieved especially in terms of girl child education and early marriages.
