Lekki protest: Police take over tollgate

Barely twelve hours to the proposed Occupy Lekki Toll Plaza by the Endears movement, men of the Nigerian Police on Friday moved to the Lekki area of Lagos in what it called a “show of force” against criminals.

Organizers say their action is to prevent the owners of the gate to reopen for business.

Endsars protesters had kicked against the decision by the panel investigating police brutality to allow the company to open the gate saying justice has not been served.

Some youths have said come Saturday they would take over the tollgate again.

However, Chief Superintendent of Police Yinka Egbeyemi on Friday led a team of police officers on a show of force going through yhe Lekki Toll Gate (Admiralty Plaza) Obalende, Ikoyi, Jakande Roundabout, and other areas in Eti Osa as part of efforts to deter crime as well as boost the morale of his officers in the areas.

This was confirmed by the Command.
