Alleged serial killer, cultist and notorious criminal, Owolabi Oludipe, popularly called “Somori” has been shot dead during a gun battle with police operatives attached to the Ogun State Police Command.

The cultist who had been facing trial for the murder of one Segun Runsewe, a Civil Defense Officer who was murdered in cold blood on November 14, 2020 as well as the killing of another person, Sunday Kayode Adegbuyi on 16th February last year.
The culprit who had been on the wanted list of the Command was sighted at Ita-Ado area of Odogbolu where he and his fellow Aiye cult gang were reportedly planning another attack in the Community.
It was learnt that a distress call was made to the Divisional Police Officer, Odogbolu, who mobilized his men and moved to the scene.
On sighting the policemen, the gang engaged them in a shoot out, consequent upon which their leader “Somori” was shot and injured; while others escaped into the bush with their operational weapons.
It was learnt that the shot suspect was quickly taken to a hospital, but died while receiving treatment.
Investigations by the police revealed that the deceased suspect was also responsible for the killing of a rival Eiye cult group leader by name Shoyombo Sanyaolu Fakoya on 11th November, 2020 during a supremacy battle between the two groups.
He allegedly confessed to all the killings on the hospital bed shortly before breathing his last.
Recovered from him are assorted charms which he wore all over his body, two live cartridges and a mobile phone, according to the police authorities.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the story.
In a related development, another notorious serial killer terrorizing ijebu ode and its environs had earlier been neutralized by operatives of the command early last month in similar circumstance.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, who praised his men for their gallantry display, has directed that efforts should be intensified to apprehend the rest of the gang members.
Ajogun also directed 24 hours surveillance of the town and its environs in order to checkmate the activities of hoodlums in the area.
He therefore reiterated that the battle against cultists in the State would be a continuous exercise until cultism and other vices are stamped out in all parts of the State.
