The Bauchi state government has banned the use of ‘Seniority’ in boarding schools in the state.
The decision was contained in a circular dated by the state education commissioner, Dr Aliyu U Tilde dated 27 January, 2021.
In the circular sent to all boarding schools in the state, he said the action has become necessary to check inhuman treatment being meted out to junior students by their seniors in boarding schools in the state .
He said henceforth all students must perform their chores themselves and that all misdeeds must first be reported to prefects, house masters or the school authorities for appropriate actions to be taken.
The circular stipulated that violators of the directive risks dismissal from the school.
He called upon headmasters to remain vigilant in enforcing the directives.
