The board of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has launched an investigation into the alleged sexual misconduct involving its Managing Director, Adam Nuru who allegedly fathered two children with a female staff.
It will be recalled that in the past couple of days media have been awashed with case of infidelity involving embattled MD and a staff identified as Moyo Thomas,said to be the wife of another banker, Tunde Thomas.
The later on learning,about the true paternity of his two children through his wife who has relocated to the United states,developed a health problem after which eventually deteriorated and led to his death a few days ago.
A group, Justice for Tunde Thomas, which blew the case open, is currently collecting signatures with which to launch a protest to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with a demand that the bank boss be sacked from his job for what is seen as unacceptable in the industry.
The group claimed that the shocking news of the affair made the deceased develop stroke, after the wife eloped to the US with the two children, whom he had nurtured as his, from where she also informed him that he was not their father.
After the relocation of his wife to the US where she was said to have sought and obtained asylum status, over domestic violence, Tunde was said to have moved on with his life, by marrying another woman, who became pregnant for him, only for death to come knocking through heart attack, apparently induced by the thought of the previous incident, before he could seal the marriage in a traditional way.
Following the outcry by Nigerians, who at the last count had garnered about 400 signatures, with a demand by the CBN to act against the alleged illicit act, the bank said it had begun its own investigation to get to the root of the matter.
In a statement on Friday, FCMB Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Diran Olojo, said the bank was aware of the allegations making the rounds against its MD and was already taking action, adding that its board of directors had already commenced a review into the matter, adding that its findings would be disclosed in due course.
The statement, read: “We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our bank’s Managing Director, Adam Nuru, a former employee Ms Moyo Thomas and her deceased ex-husband, Mr Tunde Thomas,” the statement read.
“While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct, require the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of these code of conduct ethics. This will be done immediately,” the bank said.
“We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved. Our Board of Directors are reviewing all aspects of this report and once they are done with their review, we will revert to you.”
