The Ahmadu Bello University(ABU) Zaria woke up Monday morning to the bizarre invasion of its territory by kidnappers.
Thus at about 12.50 am,the kidnappers invaded the house of a staff member of the University on Sardauna Crescent,Area BZ,Main campus,Samaru,Zaria and went away with him,wife and daughter.
A statement signed by Malam Auwalu Umar ,Director Public Affairs Directorate of the institution said that the university security division alerted the operatives of the police intelligence response team which advanced to the scene and later engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle which led to the release of the wife and daughter of the staff but “went away with the husband”.
The statement said the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies as well as relevant government establishments have been informed of the incident.
