Osy
Like they say, he saw it all before taking his exit. We are talking of Ossy Denobis who exited this sinful world unceremoniously on October 15, 2020.
Perhaps, the only person who can be compared with him in terms of sound engineering in Nigeria, was Decca’s Lak Adeniran, also of blessed momory.
While Adeniran’s signature is boldly signed on most of Chief Ebenezer Fabiyi-Obey’s evergreen pieces, Ossy made his name as both in and off studio engineer.
Until his death, Ossy was the engineer behind Femi Anikulapo-Kuti’s numerous performances within and without The New African Shrine.
Popularly known as Engr Osy Denobis the gentle giant, he had made his name as Christy Essien-Igbokwe’s sound engineer before the Lady of songs kicked the bucket some years ago.
Today, friends of the fallen musical hero like Gideon Nwaomu, Felady among others have gathered to give him a star-like burial beginning with a Service of Songs that will take place in his Lagos residence 19 Somoye Street, Omotoye Estate Orile Agege on November 12, 2020. The venue is accessible through Iyana Ipaja (Under Bridge), via Ipaja-Agege Road by Mulero Bus Stop/ Canal), and via Okekoto on Agege-Ipaja Road by Mulero Bus Stop/Canal.
The family in a release said it solicits the cooperation and support of all Osy’s friends and well wishers in making the Service of Songs and his subsequent burial very memorable.
