At last, they’ve come for him: EFCC arrests Fowler on allegation of N5b fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) have at last has arrested a former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Babatunde Fowler.
Fowler,has before his removal over six months ago been in the news for the wrong reasons concerning how he ran the nations tax concern.

Fowler, a longtime ally of Bola Tinubu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was arrested over an alleged N5bn fraud carried out while he headed FIRS.

The former FIRS boss is said to be undergoing interrogation at the anti-graft’s office in Lagos State.

According to Sahara Reporters, nine senior officials were detained by the EFCC over alleged multi-billion Naira fraud in 2019.

President Muhammadu Buhari had sacked Fowler in 2019 after he was issued a query for worsening tax revenues since 2015.
