A former education minister, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu,to prevail on his men to stop the wanton arrest and brutalization of citizens who are protesting the activities of the Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police(SARS).
In a letter he sent to the IG,Friday, she said that any causality recorded in the peaceful protest s nationwide as a result “of your officers disregard of the human rights and dignity of life of our citizens is grossly unconstitutional”.
She declared that there are consequences for the grievous actions of the #SARS operatives who have over the years brutalized and killed citizens adding,” it is time for the Inspector General of Police to show that the activities of officers acting as criminal gangs against the people are not in fact guaranteed by the leadership of the Nigeria Police”.
She asked the IG to swiftly accede to the demand of the protesters and #EndSARS immediately.
