I’ve been hearing, and reading many an APC member/supporter complain about treachery being the major contributor to their party/candidate’s trouncing in last Saturday’s Edo guber election.
Let’s humour them, by assuming that that’s what played out, though it would be the height of self-deception, if they pretend not to know who’s responsible for the woeful outing.
That said, I have a question for them: When did treachery become a negative attribute in Nigerian politics?
I ask, because the treachery that saw to President Jonathan’s fall from power was roundly celebrated by not a few APC members and their supporters.
In fact, numerous members of the PDP, President Jonathan’s party, jumped ship, into the APC to reap the fruit of their barefaced treachery.
But come to think of it, who doesn’t know that treachery rules contemporary Nigerian politics?
APC, as a party, is littered with traitors from PDP! And if their electoral fortunes reversed, you could bet on an exodus therefrom.
You have to be an adept at treachery, to be considered a good Nigerian politician.
- That is why majority of Nigerians, of real integrity, not the pretentious type, avoid politics like the plague.
