Authorities of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State, have said the institution is yet to formally announce the exact date of resumption for commencement of academic session.

As such, students of the University have been advised to stay away from its campuses pending a formal announcement of school opening by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The University Registrar, Mr Femi Ogunwomoju, in a press statement, said the University would not open its premises to students until there is formal nod by the Governor, who is the Visitor to the institution.

The press statement by the Management is a fallout of series of enquiries and anxiety by many parents and students who have began preparations for resumption next Tuesday, September 21, 2020, as widely assumed.

In the statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs, Mr Niyi Oduwole, the Management said “necessary actions and protocols are being taken to ensure safe reopening of the University.”

The Registrar noted that the Management was aware of the recent directive by the Ogun State Government for tertiary institutions in the State to resume from 21st September, 2020.

While acknowledging the government’s directive, Mr Ogunwomoju advised all stakeholders, most especially, Parents/Guardians and Students, to be on the look out for the formal announcement on resumption by the University.

He particularly urged all the students to await the formal announcement on the exact date for resumption before returning to Campus.

The Registrar further assured that necessary actions and protocols are being taken to ensure safe reopening of the University.
