Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has rejected the recent hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and electricity tariff saying what the nations needs at this time is economic stimulus not fuel price hike.
The Pipelines and Product Marketing Company PPMC, had Wednesday announced the increase in Petrol to N151.56 per litre and on Thursday morning most filling stations had effected the new price.
Reacting to the increase, Atiku said it came at a time Nigerians need stimulus, “not an impetuous disregard for the challenges they face”.
He explained that the country was just coming out of Coronavirus lockdown and its effects and not does not need an extra burden.
“I reject the increased electricity tariffs. Coming out of the lockdown, Nigerians need a stimulus, not an impetuous disregard for the challenges they face.
“Many Nigerians have not earned an income for months, due to no fault of theirs. This increase is ill-timed and ill-advised”, he wrote on his Twitter handle.
