The first Ogun State Transportation Master Plan, when ready, will boost the industrial drive of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, open up more investments, as well as consolidate the State’s position as the most industrialised in Nigeria.

The Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe stated this in Abeokuta during an interview with journalists on the inauguration of the Steering Committee on the State Transportation Master Plan by Governor Dapo Abiodun, saying despite economic challenges, government was committed to developing the transportation sector in order to meet the rapid industrial growth, thereby enhancing the socio-economic development of the State.

Mrs. Longe, who serves as one of the Committee members, added that the Committee would ensure strict compliance with the State’s transportation laws, reduce accident’s rate, as well as ensure all other means of transportation previously under-utilised were given adequate attention, thereby creating more job opportunities for the unemployed.

She noted that government would not relent at improving the State’s infrastructure, stating that, “since the onset of this administration, about 90 kilometers of roads have either been completed or undergoing construction, while over 60 kilometers of roads have been rehabilitated’’.

The Commissioner stated that the present administration was engaging the Federal Government on the construction of different federal roads, including roads within the Agbara axis, to aid the industrial development in the area, pointing out that government had also harmonized taxes to address allegations of multiple taxation, as well as prosecution of illegal tax collectors through its mobile courts.

Mrs. Longe said the State government’s effort at adequately equipping the security forces through the Security Trust Fund had improved security of lives and property in the State, lauding the private sector for supporting the Prince Abiodun’s administration.
