COVID-19: Real, dangerous- Commissioner warns Ekiti citizens

Ekiti State government has reminded the people of the state on the reality o the Coronavirus diseases saying that to think otherwise is to encourage its spread.
This advice was given by Health and Human Services commissioner,Dr Mojisola Yayah Kolade who also reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Covid-19 becomes the thing of the past.

Dr Yaya-Kolade gave the assurance of the states preparedness to curtail the spread while declaring open a one day training of stakeholders on the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 in the 3 Senatorial Districts of Ekiti State.

She said Ekiti people should be more careful and conscious of the deadly pandemic ravaging the whole world and to desist from the insinuation that the disease is not real.

Earlier in his welcome address, the senior special adviser to the governor on Public Health Dr Jimlas Ogunsakin, appreciated Governor Kayode Fayemi for his proactive steps to curtail the spread of coronal virus in Ekiti state.

He said Ekiti state was lucky to have a proactive and kind- hearted governor who has made resources available to combat the virus as well as setting up a molecular laboratory for the state to prevent taking blood samples to Lagos and Abuja for Screening.

Dr. Ogunsakin called on the well spirited individuals to join hands with the government to provide palliatives to indigent residents of Ekiti noting that lots of palliatives ranging from food items, hand sanitizers and face masks had been distributed by the Ekiti state government.

He urged Ekiti state residents to stay safe and charged them on different responsibilities to the government which include responsibility for hand washing, responsibility for wearing face masks, responsibility for social and physical distancing, responsibility for community reporting for symptoms and responsibility for general reporting.

The state Health Educator Mrs Lola Ologuntoye lectured participants on COVID19 and how to prevent the spread of the pandemic as she saluted the efforts of the state governor and the Covid-19 taskforce committee for their proactiveness.

Some of the participants at the event Alhaji Usman Bakare and chief Mrs Ajoke Haastrob described the training as timely and eye opener as they urged the government to make the training consistent.

They all encouraged government to consider the reopening of worship centers and to prioritize the distribution of more palliatives.
