Persons suspected to be Ghanaian hoodlums Friday night destroyed a new building being erected at the Nigerian High commission in Accra.
Surprisingly, the Ghanian police were said to look to the other side.

The Nigerian High Commission is located at one of the most secured community of Accra called Ridge which is five minutes’ drive to the Police headquarters just beside the SNIIT guest house.

The men in charge of security at the area said they made a call to the police, but it took the police one hour to get there. Meanwhile, the police headquarters is less than 5 minutes’ drive to the building, which shows something must be wrong somewhere.

The security men expressed surprise that when the police eventually came, they had handshakes with the hoodlums and did not either stop or arrest them which is a probable indication that the police know the fellows.

Personnel of Goodluck Security guarding the complex were helpless when the men brought bulldozer to bring down the building maliciously.

One of the security men said, “Even if the people who carried out the act have any permit as claimed, should it be done at night? Why didn’t they come with Ghana security personnel?”

The building demolition started at about 8pm Friday night and one of the people there called The Patmos Media Line Chief Executive, Rev. Eniola Olatunji at 1:40am of Saturday from Ghana.

A source at the embassy claimed they have written to the foreign mission to strengthen security in the area after the first partial demolition on Monday which was reported to the Police, yet no action of such was taken.

It was learnt that the Embassy staff are traumatized that despite diplomatic immunities and dictates, an Embassy of a foremost African country can be so dealt with.
