Ekiti State Government has disclosed that the state only has two Covid-19 patients after discharging 4 patients out of the 6 patients from the state isolation centre.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Mrs Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, disclosed this Friday at the press briefing on the activities of the State taskforce on Covid-19.
Dr Yaya-Kolade echoed that the State through its molecular laboratory has done a pilot sampling of 10 persons who were health workers.
The commissioner reiterated that modalities were being put in place to ensure the result of the sampling came out within a day instead of waiting for 48 hours of the NCDC .
Yaya-Kolade further reassured that the two patients left were in good and stable condition and may likely be discharged anytime, soon.
She said; “Currently, in Ekiti we have two patients,four has been discharged in the last time that we met, the two patients we have at our facility are basically stable, they are doing very well, nobody is on oxygen, what we are using is working on them and may likely be discharged anytime soon.
“That would be 26 patients in total that we have discharged since the beginning of Covid-19 in Ekiti state .
“We have talked about our testing in our molecular laboratory, as at yesterday, we had 10 sampling, I used the word pilot programing and these results will be out shortly.” She disclosed.
In his remarks the Coordinator of the Taskforce, Professor Mobolaji Aluko said the State Government is considering relocation of some traders to markets that would facilitate the implementation and enforcement of protocols that would prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the market places.
Professor Aluko, noted that the security of the State was stable and implored that residents of the State should cultivate the culture of wearing face mask properly.
He said that government would not hesitate to prosecute any resident of the state caught violating the use of face masks.
The commissioner for information and values orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua and other members of the taskforce condemned Gender Based Violence (GBV), especially rape in Ekiti state and Nigeria as a whole .
