The All Peoples Congress(APC) has named former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, now recuperating in a Lagos hospital as its Acting Chairman, with immediate effect following the Appeal c
Court suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the decision in a terse message late Tuesday.
Senator Ajimobi is reportedly suffering from the coronavirus disease and is being treated at the First Foundation medical facility, Lagos where former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and Senator Osinowo from Lagos died.
In a terse statement issued late Tuesday night, National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu said the party has received the news indicating the Appeal Court has upheld the suspension of the Party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by an FCT High Court pending the determination of the substantive suit.
“Guided by advice from the Party’s legal department in line with the provisions of Section 14.2. (iii) of the Party’s constitution, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Sen. Abiola Ajimobi will serve as the Party’s Acting National Chairman”.
He said, “According to Section 14.2. (iii),of the APC constitution, the Deputy National Chairman, North/South “Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone”.
This followed Tuesday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal upholding the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, by a Federal Capital Territory High Court pending the determination of the substantive suit.
